Disability Access Audits and Improvements
What You Need To Do?
The Disability Discrimination Act 2005 (DDA 2005) applies to all employers and those who provide a service to the general public. It is designed to end discrimination against the disabled, because it is not always obvious if someone is disabled. A person can have a 'hidden' impairment, such as a heart condition or arthritis.
Under DDA 2005 businesses have to make reasonable adjustments so they do not discriminate against disabled customers or employees. This may affect the way you treat your staff, job applicants and customers. If your organisation is not accessible to disabled people, you could miss out on potential customers.

How Can We Help?
ASAP have experienced surveyors who can identify the needs of your business under DDA 2005.
In carrying out a Disability Access Audit, ASAP identify reasonable adjustments (changes you need to make to your business to meet the duties imposed by DDA and reasonable in your circumstances).
ASAP consider the following when deciding what is reasonable for your business:
· Type and size of business
· Cost of the adjustment(s)
· Disruption to the business while work is carried out
· Practicality of carrying out the adjustment
· Potential benefits to the disabled
As part of the Disability Access Audit, ASAP will ensure that employing disabled people does not become an issue for you.
ASAP recognise the importance of cost and programme when making these recommendations. Each recommended adjustment is provided with an approximate cost estimate prioritised into short, medium and long term targets.
