What Do You Need To Do?

 
CDM 2007 was developed to reduce construction accidents and illness by:
·          being flexible in terms of contractual arrangements used.
·          emphasising planning and managing work and reducing bureaucracy.
·          emphasising communication and co-ordination advantages.
·          simplifying the assessment of competence.
 
It aims to ensure that compliance will increase and as a result  there will be more focus and less wasted effort. This should ensure the delivery of consistency of safety behavior construction. 
The main changes in these revised regulations are:
·          an enhanced Client duty reflecting the influence they have on site health and safety standards.
·          removal of a Client's ability to transfer criminal liabilities to an agent.
·          CDM Co-ordinator replaces the Planning Supervisor, to assist the Client in meeting his / her duties.
·          improved guidance for assessing competence before appointment.

How Can We Help?

 
The main role of the CDM Co-ordinator is to advise and assist the Client comply with their duties. ASAP act in this capacity and are able to:
·          assist with the appointment of competent contractors and designers;
·          advise on the adequacy of arrangements for controlling risk;
·          co-ordinate design work, planning and works in preparation for construction;
·          liaise with the Principal Contractor about design changes during construction;
·          notify the HSE about the project;
·          audit the Health and Safety file;
 
If ASAP as the CDM Co-ordinator has concerns about any aspect of these arrangements, we will advise our Clients of these deficiencies and ensure that these deficiencies are addressed. This improved guidance assists, through clarification and simplification of the process, Designers, Principal Contractors, Contractors and site workers during both the tendering and construction phases of the process.
